Isaac Tate III
My name is Isaac Tate III, and I have 29 years of teaching and coaching experience with FWISD. In 1993, I procured Bachelors of Arts degrees in English and history at Texas Wesleyan University, and I am also certified by the state of Texas to teach in both fields. I taught nineteen years of teaching at William James Middle School where I coached football, track, girls’ and boys’ basketball. In 2012, I became a member of the original Dream Team member at the Young Men’s Leadership Academy (YMLA) as the first Social Studies teacher, football, and basketball coach at the middle school level. I was selected the first ‘Teacher of the Year’ at the YMLA for the 2012-13 school year. I also earned the FWISD ‘Sewell Lexus Teaching Excellence Award in Humanities’ in 2015. Presently, I serve as the YMLA Varsity Assistant and Freshman Basketball Coach. I am proud to report, since 2018, YMLA basketball has produced six scholars to play basketball at the collegiate level.
